No, this is not another rant about how weird and archaic it is to sit around waiting for the man you love to pop the question when you know he has the ring and he’s said he’ll do it by your birthday and your birthday is only eight days away…
I did, however, attend Jazz Age on the Delaware fundraiser for the Glen Foerd estate this past weekend this weekend with PIC.
I also discovered an app that allows you make super cool photo collages so I’m going to subject you all to a little of each.

Here are a few shots of our fabulous 1920s garb, which comprised an amalgamation of actual vintage pieces, thrift shop finds and accessories borrowed from friends.
Yes, I brought two pairs of shoes… One pair of heels and one pair of flats. Both came in very handy.
Here are the details of my dress:
The lace lining and skirt were made from an actual vintage dress that a friend gave me as a “thank you” for helping her sort through and properly care for her vintage clothing collection. (I knew that college minor in Historic Preservation would come in handy some day!) The beaded overlay is a shirt that my mom bought me back in college with the suggestion that I could wear it when I went clubbing with my roommates, but only if my boyfriend came along as it was pretty much see-through… I never managed to find a proper bra that worked with it but, as I very happily posted to Facebook on Saturday, being flat chested was a perk in the 1920s!

As for PIC, he looked pretty dapper himself and was a great sport. (Way better than me at Third Eye Blind.) And although I’m not going to post any real pictures of him, here are a few shots of what he wore:
Note our amazingly chic picnic basket in the upper left corner and the statue of the Glen Foerd family dog… The poor thing was named “Little Ugly.”
The day was a lot of fun, with appearances by Drew Nugent and the Midnight Society, the Gin Canaries, and the Red Hot Ramblers (don’t you just love all those names?). The Old City Sweethearts also performed a really cute chorus girl number to We’re In the Money (they’re also going to do a piece in The Lady Hoofers third annual Holiday Concert this so mark your calendars for the first weekend of December) and Dandy Wellington himself came down from NY to serve as emcee for the afternoon.
Now… time to turn my thrift shop genius to the next social event to which I will be subjecting poor PIC: the one and only Diner en Blanc :)
